Every lap, every corner, every braking zone produces data that we could not replicate in any wind tunnel or dynamometer laboratory in the world. We chase milliseconds because they are honest. They do not lie, they do not negotiate, and they do not care about the politics of engineering. A faster lap time is the only argument that has never been disputed.
